Although this product can also be used as a bodywash, I use it almost exclusively as a shampoo, as it has completely cured my dandruff without any harmful chemicals!
Because it contains no SLS or other harmful foaming agents, it will not foam up as much as other chemical-based shampoos. While this takes a little getting used to, you will start to notice the best results after about two weeks - which is the amount of time your hair and scalp will need to adjust.
I use the term "adjust" because most chemical-based shampoos contain silica, which gives your hair a "silky-smooth" feel, but also strips your hair of all its natural oils. Once you remove the silica, SLS and other harmful chemicals from your hair using a natural shampoo, it takes time for the natural oils in your hair and scalp to return. However, once they do, you will start to notice your hair feeling smother, "silkier" and more manageable.
Some people also complain that this shampoo leaves their hair feeling a bit "flat" when they first start to use it, but normally the body and bounce return after a couple of weeks when their hair starts to feel "normal" again. This is completely natural, as all the chemical "fillers" are being removed from their hair and replaced by natural oils. Likewise, it will normally take 2-4 weeks for any dandruff to clear up as the scalp adjusts.
I particularly like this shampoo because it is unscented and complimented by the EnviroCare Hair Conditioner, which is slightly scented with rosewood and lavender essential oils, leaving my hair feeling fresh and clean.
As a bodywash, it is best to use a loofah or shower sponge to help with foaming, as this product will not foam much when simply rubbed on your body. I prefer the normal Body & Hair Cleanser as a bodywash, as it is slightly scented and foams a bit better with the essential oils.
* While this shampoo and conditioner suit all hair types, one little trick for those with particularly dry hair is to add a small amount of virgin olive oil (about a tablespoon for each 250ml bottle). This helps to moisturise your scalp and hair until the natural oils return.
