The answer is simple: Every product we stock and sell is made entirely from natural ingredients. They contain no harmful synthetics or other harsh chemicals. In fact, much of our range is 100% certified organic.
So what does “certified organic” really mean?
An “organic” product is not truly organic unless it is certified by an internationally recognised body, such as NASAA (the National Association for Sustainable Agriculture Australia). It must contain at least 95% certified organic ingredients – the remaining 5% being approved natural additives, such as rainwater or naturally occurring clays (which obviously cannot be organically grown).
Certified organic products, such as our Elemental skincare range, comply with stringent international standards. They are carefully monitored at all stages of production - from seed, growing, harvesting, storage and transportation to final processing – and comprise the highest quality ingredients grown from sustainable farming methods without the use of chemical fertilisers or pesticides
If it’s good for Nature, it’s good for your skin.
Natural products may also contain certified organic ingredients, but are typically less than 95%. However, all ingredients must be naturally derived and include no known cancer-causing agents or harmful synthetics (such as petrochemicals). Most are anti-allergenic for sensitive skin.
Examples of our natural product range include the Natural Olive Oil Soap Company and Corryne’s Natural Soaps. While not 100% certified organic, they offer a safe, economical and humane alternative to commercial soaps and shampoos that contain animal fats, phosphates and synthetics that may irritate skin and pollute our waterways.
Likewise, our environmentally friendly household products, such as the Envirocare range, are naturally derived and completely biodegradable. This is important, because not only do most household products end up in our water and air (not to mention our skin and hair!), we use millions of litres of these damaging chemicals each year.
If a product is that harmful to the environment, just imagine what it is doing to your own home!
As you have probably guessed by now, Australian Natural & Organic was born for all the above reasons. It began as a personal quest – to find a simple and sustainable solution to a cleaner and better world. It has now become a lifestyle and growing business venture.
The future is organic.
Like each of our quality manufacturers, we are based in Western Australia – one of the cleanest environments on earth. All of our products are produced fresh, right here, where we can keep an eye on quality control and develop a close relationship with our suppliers. In fact, all of our products are tested in our own homes before we agree to stock them!
And why wouldn’t we?
Australian organic farmers and producers are recognised as amongst the best in the world. From an economic point of view, the days of petroleum-based beauty products are also numbered. Oil stocks are running low, yet there are many cheaper, safer and more effective products being made right now from vegetable oils and other natural ingredients.
Of course, most organic beauty products have also stood the test of time, having been used by many cultures over thousands of years. These include: moisturising olive, avocado, almond and macadamia nut oils; cleansing clays and muds; fragrant spices; sea and rock salt scrubs; soothing aloe vera; healing essential oils; medicinal native plant and fruit extracts; anti-bacterial tea-tree and eucalyptus oils.
Nature really does provide for all.
And yet, despite this natural abundance and rich history, we continue to use damaging synthetic cleaners and cosmetics at an alarming rate. While most of us stop to think how much these chemicals cost at the counter, many of us don’t realise how much they have already cost our health and the environment. These are facts that can’t be ignored - especially if you have a young family.
Yes, there are many good reasons to use natural and organic products – health benefits are just one – but it helps to know that when everyone puts their mind to it, we can all make a positive change to our planet.
After all, the world really is in our hands . . .
